Dear
SSG Potential Members,
The
New School of Student Performance Group/Vocal Studies is expanding its repertoire
to include a new student performance group focused community oriented program
:
Singers Sensation –
Las Vegas Student Performance Group
(SSG-music). The SSG programming is specifically
aimed at group/soloists in training who will be offered the entire range of
Vocal development: classical vocal
training services. The "trainees" are all in school and/or of school
age ranging in age from 7 – 18. A furthering of the SSG philosophy, SSG's
purpose is to make student performance group a musical singing scholarship/financial
aid available to all age and income groups.
How
SSG is organized as a separate youth directed program within Clark County, SSG
will be separately organized and funded. SSG is incorporated as a separate not
for profit, charitable organization. SSG is an independent organization with
its own board of directors, accountability and reporting relationship. SSG's
auditioning process is available to all potential students regardless of means.
SSG's scholarship/financial aid program is available to those that qualify. SSG
draws on the full range of services and facilities offered by SSG at a predetermined
subsidized rate. SSG subsidies will be funded by a "membership" funded program
of student participant sponsors and/or individuals who believe in the SSG. The
SSG board will be accountable to the "membership" to whom they will
report annually.
How
SSG Works
1.
An Application Process: Applications will be sought from previously
identified communities through their community centers, regional schools and/or
word of mouth. This process has already been successfully initiated with Clark
County Schools and Las Vegas City.
Applicants
will be screened and if successful will be asked to audition for the SSG.
Please note that the screening process is quite rigorists and spells out in
detail the commitment and disciplines required of the student.
Auditions
will be held and the number of available student’s vacancies filled. There are
currently 15 student members and it is SSG's intention to expand this to 20
members in 2015. Expansion both of the number of Student members as well as the
possible addition of additional students will be reviewed at the end of 2014.
2.
The Management Shaun J. Federico, as the president of SSG and vocal instructor
is responsible for the SSG programming and instruction. He will be assisted
musically by (...Debra…pianist, etc.) And administratively by members of his
board President-Shaun J. Federico, Secretary-Nancy F. Martin, Treasurer-Steven
R. Berkowitz. For a complete list of our board members please seewww.singerssensationgroup.org under Board of Directors)
Shaun
J. Federico will report on a regular basis to the board who in turn will report
annually to the "members/sponsors".
3.
The Location rent SSG space from NSCVS and undertakes its programming at its
current location of 812 Pepperwood Ln Las Vegas, Nevada 89107
4.
Student Scholarships/Financial Aid and Subsidies
An
important characteristic of SSG is that no qualified prospective student will
be denied training for lack of funding. To ensure this happens: 1. SSG will
provide its services at a discounted rate to SSG, and 2. SSG, through its
Scholarship and Subsidy program, will subsidize any shortfall the student may
encounter due to lack of funds.
5.
The Members and the Funding of SSG: The purpose of the membership is to support
the work and activities of SSG and to provide funding for the SSG Scholarship/Financial
Aid and Subsidy program. Initially it is the intention of the SSG to underwrite
and provide funds for the Scholarship/Financial Aid and Subsidy programs
through an active individual membership base.
All
members are encouraged to plan to attend SSG scheduled events. Membership is
divided into three categories:
Platinum Membership
- monthly contribution of $30 or an annual single payment
contribution of $300 for which the Platinum member receives:
- A quarterly progress report on the activities of SSG
- A bi-monthly newsletter on the activities of SSG
- A 50% discount on attendance at all events.
- 1 guest pass per event.
- Free In studio "member only invitation" pass
to events to meet the students of the program and hear them in concert.
Gold

payment contribution of $200 for which the Gold member receives:

Silver
Membership
- A monthly contribution of $10 or an annual single
payment contribution of $100 for which the Silver member receives:
- A quarterly progress report on the activities of SSG.
- A bi-monthly newsletter on the activities of SSG.
There has been discussion around the
possibility of seeking corporate sponsorships, but as of this writing our
preference is to first build a base of individual membership support composed
of people truly interested in the advancement of student performance group in
musical training in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Together with the Board of
Directors, I would like to express our thanks to you for taking the time to
read this letter. We truly hope you will become a SSG member. I think you will
find it a very rewarding and worthwhile experience.

Singers Sensation Overview
SINGERS SENSATION –
The Las Vegas Student Performance Group are a
positive learning experience for our students, one they will carry with them
throughout their lifetime. Our students will learn the meaning of
"commitment" and "responsibility". They will feel a sense
of pride at being in this very special performance group organization with a
high level of personal and artistic expectation. We teach students to take
their membership seriously. They are part of a team, with each member playing a
vital level of importance.
Vocal Production /
Singing Techniques
Our Students are taught
to sing correctly. Student’s voices are very fragile and should be treated with
care. Most students, who love to sing, do so with a lot of vigor and energy
which is great for our program, but they must be trained correctly or damage
can occur to their young, growing and vulnerable vocal chords. When they learn
production skills that work, singing becomes easy and enjoyable. Directors are
trained and have access to the latest techniques that are always being
discovered about the human voice. Parents and audiences are thrilled to hear
our students sing!
Rhythm & Movement
Students in SINGERS
SENSATION are taught to move their
bodies and instruments to rhythm. As they sing, they learn to move at the same
time, thus enhancing brain development and gross motor skills. Rhythm and
movement and singing go hand in hand and students have fun while learning these
skills. In teaching rhythm, students are often exposed to a myriad of different
instruments; both conventional and created. Learning rhythm becomes addicting
and exciting!
Music Theory & Ear
Training
As students in SINGERS
SENSATION learn to sing, it is important
that they begin to start learning music theory, ear training and symbols. These
are introduced in fun games and presentations. Music theory and ear training is
critical to a singer and we provide the basic foundation for understanding the
beginning of reading music. Basic note names and values are introduced as well
as symbols on the staffs. Musical terms such as staccato and legato are not
only learned but experienced! Copycat singing of intervals and solfeggio is
also taught in the classroom along with the hand signals that accompany them.
Theater & Drama
Training
Part of being on the
stage is learning how to control your body under performance situations. We use
drama and theatre training as a tool to help children feel comfortable in front
of any audience. Microphone use is stressed as well as diction, proper
inflection and body language. How to use and utilize an enhancing prop is also
taught and enjoyed in the classroom. Our twice-yearly concerts are a tribute to
the skills used in their theatre training: the entire concert is narrated by
the students themselves! Whether it be a book report, a science experiment presentation
or a family reunion, SINGERS SENSATION students learn to perform and feel comfortable
in front of an audience. Not all children will become famous singers, but all
children will need to be able to feel comfortable presenting in front of an
audience at some point in their lives.
Music & Classroom Fun
Our music is arranged and
choreographed to fit student’s age groups and accommodate their young voices.
SINGERS SENSATION music is geared toward
student being able to sing in a comfortable range while moving in rhythm.
Rhythm is such an exciting thing for children, and can have a great effect on
the developing mind. Music medleys are arranged with the careful consideration
of style, range, familiarity, audience appeal and uniqueness. We try to expose
children to all kinds of music so that appreciation is gained and education
takes place. Music is carefully chosen by an experienced staff working to have
the most updated, unique and exciting program available! Our students go home
singing and are excited to return!
SINGERS SENSATION Concerts
Concerts are produced
twice a year: once at Christmas time and another one in the spring (generally
in May). Each concert is a culmination of the material learned during the
semester. Most often the concerts are approximately 75 to 90 minutes long and
are narrated entirely by the students. Each student will learn and perform a
minimum of five numbers and some are involved in up to seven. Students learn to
come on and off stage with expertise and professionalism. Lighting and sound
are used to enhance these audience appealing and anticipated shows!
